Welcome from the Executive Headteacher

Welcome to The Russett School

The Russett School is working in partnership with The Russett Learning Trust to provide outstanding education for all.
We are a highly successful 2 – 19 Special School, obtaining an Ofsted Outstanding in July 2014. Our ongoing success is due to the continued outstanding contribution from our talented and highly dedicated support staff and teachers. This is enhanced by the extensive support and commitment from our parents and carers.
Putting children and their parents at the heart of all we do
At the Russett School we promote the accepted British Values of
1. Democracy
2. Rule of Law
3. Liberty
4. Mutual Respect
5. Tolerance of different cultures and religions
and in addition, we hope to develop in each of our pupils and students a wide range of personal and collective attributes. These include:
Spiritual development is about the development of a pupil’s ‘spirit’
Moral development is about working towards an understanding of what is right and wrong
Social development is about young people working effectively with each other and participating successfully in the family, class, school and the local and wider community.
Cultural development has at its heart the necessity to develop a sense of personal identity, whilst at the same time acquiring awareness, understanding, tolerance and respect with regard to the cultural traditions and beliefs of others.

Through guaranteeing high quality teaching and learning which offers a wide range of bespoke, individualised learning and personal development opportunities, we aim to provide a:
• Broad and balanced education
• Happy, safe and stimulating environment
• Developing principles to be citizens of the future
• A Personalised approach
• Developing personal independence
• Preparation for their journey through life
• Valued member of their community

We recognise that adopting a personalised approach is critical to each pupil/students development.
Great importance is placed on supporting learning by using a wide range of strategies including language, communication and sensory integration which are key to developing personal independence.
We have continued to develop our Community, Outreach and Training service (COaTS) to support mainstream preschools, nurseries and primary school in supporting children with additional needs. We work closely with parents/carers and other professionals to deliver training and professional development.
Any parents/carers with further questions, or who would like to visit, are warmly encouraged to contact us.
This website aims to give you a ‘flavour’ of our school, as well as providing regular updated information for the whole school community and the wider audience.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that you find it informative and helpful.
