Friends of School
At their Annual General Meeting held in June 2011 it was agreed to change the name of the Friends of Russett School. In future they will be known as The Russett School Parent Teachers Association. It is expected that the change of name will offer the group improved support and better funding opportunities and links with funding charities.
The new officers of the RSPTA were also elected at the AGM. Wynn Brotherton has taken over the role of Chair, Collette Ingham continues as Secretary and Alan Bradley is the new Treasurer. Alan is a grandfather to one of our pupils, which goes to show - membership is not just restricted to parents! Other committee members are Jo Kirwin and Andrea and Joseph Campbell. If any parents would like to either join the committee or would be willing to volunteer their help at any future events, please do not hesitate to contact Collette Ingham in the school office on 01606 853005.
The focus of future fund raising efforts will be to further improve the outside play
equipment for all our pupils. The next big fund raising event will be the Christmas Fair which is to be held on Saturday 3rd December from 12.00pm to 3.00pm in the school hall. Letters will be circulated to all parents after half term with more information and ways in which parents can help.
The PTA have installed a Rag Bag collection container in the car park. This is for re-cycling clothes and shoes. It was recently emptied for the first time since its arrival and raised £42.00 for PTA funds. Parents are welcome to send in their clothes and shoes for recycling, but please make sure they are securely tied in a carrier bag. If you have any clothes which are hardly worn, they can be sent in for the Christmas Fair which will have a ‘Good as New’ stall.
One final note, the PTA are looking for a “celebrity” to open the Christmas Fair this year. If you have any contacts, please speak to Collette.
The next meeting of the PTA is to be held on 12th December at 10am.
