Pupils were welcomed back into school this term and were thrilled with the changes and additions that had been made to school during the summer holidays.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Russett School PTA, the senior school now have a multi-purpose games area suitable for ball games such as basket ball, netball and football with a special playing surface.
The pupils in the MSI Unit also have a fabulous sensory outdoor area which has been funded by school including wheelchair accessible sand pits and a wonderfully tactile water feature.
The main hall has been completely refurbished with a new floor, a new colour scheme, with matching blinds. Also based in the hall is a high tech Interactive Whiteboard that is also mobile, so can be used in other areas of school. Staff were able to take full advantage of the white board during their INSET days at the beginning of term.
Still to come are new seating areas for the outside and a new sound system for the hall, which should be in place in time for the Annual Christmas Pantomime.
Sadly, one of our younger pupils passed away during the holidays and our thoughts go out to his family.
Mrs Hilda Wood who has been at The Russett School since 1990 decided to retire at the end of last term. We wish her all the very best for the future. Ms Ruth Lancashire also left at the end term and we send her best wishes for the future.
We welcome two new Teaching Assistants, Vicky Nevin and Catherine Pendry. Vicky will be working in Room 5 and Catherine in Room 7.
We are also pleased to announce that Miss Noonan has given birth to a son Jacob. Both are doing well.
