Summer Letter for Parents
17th July 2020
The academy closes for pupils today and we will be expecting all pupils back in the academy on Wednesday 2nd September.
Two of our teachers, Kerry and Jamie are leaving and three new teachers will be joining us in September. Jess Dennis will be going on maternity leave in the Autumn term and Ed Duffy has been appointed as Acting Deputy Head of Academy. By now you should all have received a letter advising which class your child will be in from September.
We are saying goodbye to some pupils who are going on to other schools, colleges and settings and we wish them all the very best for the future. Unfortunately, we have not been able to celebrate our leaver’s achievements as we normally would have done.
For the following two weeks, if a pupil or family member tests positive for COVID, can you please telephone the academy on 01606 853005 and leave a message. This will assist with track and trace and enable us to contact other pupils and staff if necessary. All children and members of their households in England have access to testing if they display symptoms of coronavirus, including children under 5. A positive test will ensure rapid action to protect other children and staff in their setting. Tests can be accessed through the NHS website.
Please see the attached Passport Back to School Questionnaire for you to complete and return to: firstname.lastname@example.org. We will use this to support your child’s transition back in to the academy. Passport back to school
In September we will be offering a full curriculum as much as possible with some restrictions, with the pupils working in pods. Pupils will continue to eat their lunch in class. All pupils will attend full time and there will be no staggered starts in a morning. We have been working closely with transport and they are planning that pupils will travel as much as possible in their pods. If you have any queries regarding transport, please note the following numbers: CWAC 01244 973377, Cheshire East 01270 371489. Please be mindful that it will take longer to get the pupils in to the academy in the morning and out at the end of the day.
Going forward we will continue to have PPE in place and we will continue to take pupils temperatures.
If your child is poorly then please keep them off and contact us as soon as possible. If your child becomes unwell in the academy, it is key to the wellbeing of the other pupils and staff that you come and collect them as soon as possible.
The Government guidance may change over the summer and we will provide a further update on the 1st September. The academy will be closed from Thursday 23rd July.
Foodbank support is available at the Lighthouse, Weaverham and West Cheshire Foodbank.
