The Canon Chancellor’s Award.
And the winners are………………………..
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your entries into the poetry competition for the Canon Chancellor’s Award.
The judging panel has thoroughly enjoyed looking through all the entries and has chosen the winning entries after much deliberation.
The Canon Chancellor was very impressed with the high quality of the poems.
They are as follows:-
The Silent Night – Russett School Special Schools
Our sixth form students entered a poem into The Canon Chancellor’s Award at Chester Cathedral. The theme they chose was ‘Silent Night’. They related the carol to Christmas adverts on TV about the famous football match held on Christmas Eve in 1914 during World War 1. The students studied video footage and images in their research to try to imagine what it would look and sound like to be there.
The students were thrilled when they learned of their achievement and the ensuing invitation they received to attend a reception at the Cathedral on Tuesday 1st March at 11.30 am. When a winning student or a representative will be asked to read or perform their poem.
